
It all started a few years ago, on a Sunday afternoon reading Country Style on a wintery day in front of the fire, the inspiration there right before my eyes. A cooking school in the country, a farmhouse, a family, a vegetable patch, trees bearing beautiful fruit and a bevy of animals. A feeling of intense peace came over me, openness, clarity, and butterflies in my belly……I had to go there.
The month of May came quickly, my girlfriends and I headed down for what was to be a weekend I will never forget. The cool air, the clear skies, the smell of the grass the view of the mountains, the animal chatter, it took my breath away. A group of people, in the middle of the country on a break from the city, gathering produce in gumboots with baskets, the sun trickling through the trees, our eyes wide open, our faces filled with delight as we harvested food from the garden, our connection with Mother Earth was so fulfilling.
It was at this moment a dream was created, time stood still and I saw everything so clearly. I now knew my purpose, everything made sense.
Our farm we purchased many years ago, was to become a place where people can come to let go, to breathe, to be inspired, to connect with the land and with themselves.
I was reminded that the country has always been a part of my soul, ever since I was a little girl and watched out the back window of the car, waving goodbye to my family’s farm in the distance as we headed back to Sydney, wishing I could stay.
